THE Mayor of Thame, Nichola Dixon, has praised the community after the success of her Civic Reception and Service last Sunday (see report).
She told Thame.Net: “I would just like to say a really big thank you to everyone that came along to the Civic Reception and Service on Sunday at the Barns Centre; it was lovely to be able to say ‘thank you’ to some of the people that make our community so amazing.
“It was a great chance for some of our community groups to meet and chat and support each other, which made the day really special for me. I also got to show my skydive DVD and reveal that the jump has raised a whopping £2,000 which is a fantastic start to the fundraising efforts for Thame and District Day Centre and the Thame to Thame, Nepal earthquake appeal. It also inspired some further fundraising discussions, so watch this space!
“I have to say a big thank you to Emma from St Mary’s church for a fabulous service which was aided by the Barley Hill choir who did a fantastic job. All in all it was a lovely day that did exactly what we set out to do, say a big THANK YOU to so many of our special people and reflect on our lovely town.”
